Donald Budge
1784
No33. February 13. 1784
Donald Budge at 12 was seized between six & seven this morning with trembling & pain in his head, the trembling continued on him about an hour & was succeeded by heat which lasted nearly the same time. The hot stage is not followed by sweat, when he first becomes hot a tickling dry cough supervenes but disappears when the hot fit is over. Pulse weak. Appetite on the day of the paroxysm almost lost. He observed the first fit nearly three weeks ago, which then came on between 8 & 9 He took a dose of salts which purged him [smartly] previous to his complaint, & his mother attributes his disease to the operation of the salts as he was seized with his fit the next morning after being a short time exposed to the cold air.
