William Aitken at 28 complains of obtuse pain under the sternum a little above the Scrobiculus cordis which obliges him when in bed to lay upon the right side with his head a little raised. He has no difficulty of breathing in any other posture. He has a severe cough & at times he spits up a thick gross matter, but never mixed with blood. After this he becomes easier. His expectoration is more copious within these few days. He has sometimes a slight sense of transient coldness. Pulse 80 rather weak This affection commenced three weeks ago & he attributes it to his having stood for some time up to the knees in cold water & afterwards remaining in wet clothes the greater part of the night. 29 Ap. vesic p. dol. pecl. nec non sumat om. m &, vesp. Pil. Scillit gr V December 6th There was a very copious discharge from the blister since which the pain of his breast is very much alleviated, & he can lie with equal ease on either side. But the cough & expectoration continue much as before. Belly regular. Cont. Pil Scillit om. m. & vesp u. a. 20 Is entirely free from the Pains of his breast, & headache & has very little remains of the cough Dismissed cured.
