Susan Tans. at 22, of a sanguine temperament, has frequent & irregular sensations of coldness which begin in the small of her back & extend to every part of her body. This sensation is attended with pain of the head. She is also sick at times but never vomits. During the fits she has twice felt the motion of something passing backwards & forwards in the belly which ceased upon the discharge of wind by the mouth. These symptoms seized her instantaneously. The first or second fit was accompanied with difficulty of breathing, which continued about two hours. Pulse 86 & feeble [Her] complaints are of about five weeks continuance & she imputes them to a fright she got one evening. She was delivered of a [girl] six months ago, which she still suckles & her menses have not appeared since Cap. Pil. Foetid cum Aloe gr V om. m. Nec non sumat om. m. Pulv. Valer. Sylv. ℥ i. December 6th Has taken her medicines regularly & all her symptoms are considerably relieved But she has been at times affected with sickness at stomach, pain of back & head. Appetite mended belly rather loose. Pulse natural No return of menses Cont Pil Foetid cum Aloe sed cap gr V alt. guag. n. solummodo. Sumat Valer. Sylv. ℥i bis indies 13. Has taken the Valerian as directed, & all her symptoms are considerably easier, although she is still at times affected with a sense of coldness & with pain & distension of the stomach. The pills keep her belly regular. Cont. Pil. Foetid. u. a. Cont. etiam Pulv. Valer Sylv. sed cap. ℥I om. m. solummodo. 20 Is free from all her symptoms Let her be dismissed.
