Ann Brodie at 21, married complains of a frequent sense of cold over her whole body, but especially about the praecordia, also of a severe pain striking from her breast to her back & of great depression of spirits. All these complaints are frequently much aggravated by emotions of mind. Pulse 68 & of natural strength Tongue natural. Belly rather loose from the use of pills, was otherwise very costive. Catamenia regular. She has been about six months married & had a miscarriage on the first of March last from which she dates her present complaints. She has a slight cough & often much dyspnoea & during the night has frequent cold clammy sweats These complaints are of the same date with the other symptoms and are attributed to the same cause. Cap. Pil. Foetid gr V om. n. 31. The pills have had the effect of purging her. In other respects her complaints are much as before. Cont. Pil & Cap. P. Cort. Peruv. Jii. bis indies. June 14. Has in general two stools from the Pilulae Foetidae But she has taken none of them for two for two days past since which she has had no stool. Most of her symptoms particularly the pains & cold fits are much diminished. But she still complains of the palpitation. Cont. Pil. Foetid sine aloe sed cap gr V [altern] quag. noet. solummod. Cont.
