William Davidson
1783
No8th May 22d 1783.
William Davidson at 3. is affected twice or thrice in the day & seven or eight times during the night, with fits of difficult respiration in which he is obliged to make seven or eight inspirations, before he can make a full & free one. He has with this, now & then, a dry cough & frequent singultus after the paroxysm. But he never vomits or expectorates. His voice is hoarse & his respiration always somewhat laborious. He has a slight eruption of red inflamed pustules over different parts of his body. Pulse slow & feeble. Skin rather hot, belly regular. He sleeps well except when awaked by the fits. Within this fortnight he has been very thirsty & his appetite has been impaired. The dyspnoea occurred about the beginning of the new year. But he has not been in good health [since] last harvest. Before that time he was healthy, but has always been subject to eruptions. 24 Cap. Pulv. Ipecac. Gr V pro Emet. nec non sumat bis indies Mist.
