Jean Stuart at 24 married of a fair complexion, tall & of an apparently robust habit, complains of cough & hoarseness with which she expectorates a thick viscid matter of a yellowish colour but no ill taste or smell She has some pain of her breast on coughing & sometimes feels a slight soreness there on pressure Respiration quite easy. She complains also of coldness in both superior extremities, from the fingers to the shoulders with a loss of feeling in the hand & fingers. These symptoms are accompanied with some pain Pulse about 80 of natural strength Tongue, Belly, menses, Appetite & Thirst natural. About ten days ago after taking cold from harvest work, her arms were affected with pain & numbness & two days after the cough & pain of breast commenced. She thinks her arms somewhat emaciated, since this affection took place, & found herself unable to wash linen last night from a want of strength in them. She has taken no medicines & her arms at present, do not seem to be sufficiently protected from cold. Cap. Pulv. Ipecac. Ji. pro emet & illin Ol. Camph. [partibus] [apprine] affectis. 21.
