    John Frazer

    1782

    John Frazer at. 36.

    June 6th 1782.

Has had a quotidian intermittent for these ten weeks past of an irregular type. The cold fit at present attacks him one day at six & the other at eight at night & continues for about an hour, the succeeding hot fit for near two hours & after this he is relieved by copious sweating. The cold fit at first seized him about 12 at noon. He is very sick during the hot & cold fits. Pulse at present about 100. Tongue moist & clean Belly bound. Respiration natural. Appetite much impaired. He has great thirst after the cold stage. About a week ago he had some oedema of his legs but that symptom is now quite gone. Urine very red & sometimes deposits a sediment. He has at present some yellowness of the skin & expresses an apprehension of jaundice, but the adnata is clear & his stools are not white.

He is much emaciated & complains of general debility. He has sometimes pains in his loins. He attributes his complaints to cold from his occupation & has not lately been exposed to marsh effluvia. Has taken a vomit with temporary ease but has used no other medicine.
