Jessee Stuart. At 4 Has an affection in both her eyes by which they are almost perfectly closed. The right palpebra which seems least affected being raised a little & that with difficulty discharged a drop of [limpid] fluid. In the left eye the cilia are almost entirely sunk in, yet neither eye is much swelled or inflamed. She is fretful but does not seem sensible of any violent pain. She lies day & night with her head on a pillow & her mother observes that her eyes exude a watery fluid. She gets up in the night time & is then able to open her eyes, but does not distinguish objects. Pulse quick. Tongue natural. Belly rather bound. Skin hot. Appetite so much impaired that for these 14 days past she has [scarcely] taken any solid food. She is very thirsty & is worst in the fore part of the day. About Martinmas last had the Tinea capitis [which] her mother thinks was too suddenly repressed. After this the left eye began to inflame & it has continued to increase. The other eye has lately been similarly affected. She has been much worse this last fortnight. She had leeches prescribed, but they were not properly applied She had opening physic which operated well with temporary relief. Has a blister between her shoulders which has risen well. Applic. Emp.
