Ralph Johnstone at 31.
May 18th Complains of constant sickness & sense of soreness at his stomach immediately after taking food in so much as frequently to produce vomiting of sour matter of a mixed colour, which he thinks is sometimes mixed with blood. He has also constantly some soreness on the left side which is sometimes increased on pressure Appetite very bad. Pulse quick & feeble. Respiration easy. Belly bound unless when he takes pills His complaints are of a years standing they began by a sickness after taking food & have continued ever since with various degrees of severity. He has had sometimes sickness even after taking drink & severe shooting pains in voiding his excrements which were slightly streaked with blood, but these symptoms are now gone. He attributes his complaints to cold & perhaps hard labour He has taken some medicines but without relief excepting from those for obviating costiveness. Rx. Pulv. Fol. Cicut. gr V Magnes. Alb. gr XMcap dos ter die nec non sumat om. noete Pil. Aloet. gr V. 24. Belly regular from the use of the pills & he takes his powders without any inconvenience
