    Alexander Taylor

    (1781-1782)

    Alexander Taylor at 9

Has at the angle of the right lower jaw a tumour which is very hard & extends the whole length of the submaxillary glands. There is also a swelling with some degree of redness over the digastric muscles & his face is also much flushed.

About four weeks ago he had a tumour of the same kind on his right cheek which suppurated by the use of a poultice, & when it broke discharged a thin watery matter tinged with blood.

About three weeks ago an eruption took place on the under lip which is now converted into a firm incrustation.

About eight weeks ago the left side of his face was affected in a similar manner, only that there was no redness in the tumour. It continued in that side for three weeks. But after it began to decline disappeared totally in about two or three days immediately upon which the other side of his face became affected. None of his family have ever had similar complaints.
