    Isabel Porteus

    (1777-1778)


    In case of Isabel Porteus had every [apparent] mark of Phthisis.

    An affection much more frequently terminating fatally than in recovery.

    What has been event of case have not been informed.

    But from last reports in register1 had no reason to alter opinion first delivered.

    And indeed nature of case such that during whole course could venture to employ no measure but what merely palliative.

    And from these in this affection very little even in way of temporary aid.


    Explanatory notes:

    1) References are made throughout the case notes to a dispensary patient register. However, no evidence has been found that this register survives.
