    DEP/DUA/1/16/23 (Normalised version)

    Binny Wood

    (1777-1778)

If however case of this patient had soon favourable termination has not happened with next in order viz Binny Wood.

Has as well as John Thomson been under care ever since commencement of course

And here can have no doubt of affection to which is subjected

From frequent discharge of portions of a worm of Taenia or Cucurbitina kind can be no doubt that from this symptoms originate

As far as could investigate from fragment brought us appeared to be Taenia [illegible] or Taenia lata.

From this was inclined to hope that might be able to affect cure

Have here however tried considerable [variety] both of ancient & modern remedies to no purpose

Have not only had recourse to Stanni Pulverat & Mercury before considered as [most] active but have tried also in vain both fern powder of Madame Nouffer & Gamboge of Herrenschwand.

And should be much obliged to any of you who would suggest to me other practices which in such instances may have seen attended with good consequences.
