It's easy to renew your College subscription

You will have recently received an email which gives you your renewal details, membership category and renewal fees and it will highlight whether you are already paying by direct debit , If you are there is no need to take any further action.

Direct debit 

90% of  Fellows and Members pay their subscription by Direct Debit. If you hold a UK bank account and wish to pay your current and future subscriptions by annual or monthly Direct Debit please download a Direct Debit Instruction (DDI)  

Renew online 

You can renew your subscription online using a debit or credit card by logging in to the secure Fellows and Members' section of the College website  Login to secure members area 

By telephone or post

If wish to pay by debit or credit card  you can do so by telephone or by post.  To pay by telephone contact the Membership Subscriptions Team on +44 (0)131 247 3675. To pay by post please complete the renewal slip at the bottom of your annual subscription renewal notice and return to the Membership Subscriptions Team at 9 Queen Street, Edinburgh, EH2 1JQ.

Cheque or sterling draft

Those wishing to pay by cheque or sterling draft can do so by detaching the renewal slip at the bottom of their annual subscription renewal notice and returning it to the Membership Subscriptions Team with a cheque for the appropriate amount made payable to the ‘Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh’ or ‘RCPE’.

Please note that all renewals need to be made by the end of  December 2017. If you don't renew your subscription by this date you will not be have access to all the great membership benefits we offer.

Claim tax back on your professional subscription

As the College has been approved as a professional body by HMRC  you can claim tax back on your subscription.  If you are a UK tax payer you will be able to claim basic rate or higher rate tax relief of 25p and 67p respectively for every £1 you pay to the College.

Retired rates

Retired rates are available to Members and Fellows in the UK and Internationally who have retired completely from paid practice.

We offer Membership discounts to:

  • Those working less than full time (LTFT)
  • Members who are on maternity leave
  • Members, in certain categories of Fellowship & Membership, who wish to opt out of routine College mailings

Members working part-time

A 25% discount  for subscription is available for those working up to 0.8 whole time equivalents.  Discounts will be awarded from the subscription due date following application but do not apply to JRCPTB training registration fees. email memsubs@rcpe.ac.uk   

Concessionary rate for members on maternity leave

A 50% discount will be applied to the next College subscription due after the maternity leave period starts and is for one year only.  Discounts will be awarded from the subscription due date following application but do not apply to JRCPTB training registration fees. Reduction in annual subscription for opting-out of routine College mailings

Certain categories of Fellowship and Membership have the option to reduce their annual subscription by opting out of receiving routine College mailings.  All information sent out by post is accessible via the College website and, to comply with governance rules, all members will continue to receive written notification of elections and subscription fees. The annual reductions are as follows: 

  • UK Fellows completely retired from remunerative medical practice – £20 reduction
  • UK Collegiate Members and Associates completely retired from remunerative medical practice – £35 reduction 
  • Overseas Fellows completely retired from remunerative medical practice – £20 reduction 
  • Overseas Collegiate Members and Associates– £20 reduction  (for those completely retired from remunerative medical practice a reduction of £35)
