Biography

Dr William Sircus was Editor of Proceedings from 1987 to 1995. Sircus was inspired to do medicine by the family doctor whom he saw received much respect and received encouragement from his father and found further inspiration from his biology teacher. He explains he ‘has always been a bit ambitious’ and did well at school. He changed his degree to study anatomy, physiology and chemistry just before the war broke out. At first he considered neurology but was then drawn to obstetrics and gynaecology.
