Biography

Dr Tom Chalmers was a consultant rheumatologist, educated at George Watson's Boys College and at the University of Edinburgh.  From 1967 to 1973 he was senior lecturer and honorary consultant in rheumatology in the University of Manchester before returning to Edinburgh, where he worked as a consultant rheumatologist and part-time senior lecturer in the rheumatic diseases unit at the Northern General and subsequently the Western General Hospital until he retired in 1994.

He acted as College Registrar from 1981 to 1983 and College Secretary from 1983 to 1986.
