Born in Edinburgh in 1957, the sculptor Jill Watson spent five years at Edinburgh College of Art before travelling to Pietrasanta, Italy, where, alongside the artisans in the workshops and studios, she learned to carve marble and to work in bronze. Watson is a figurative sculptor and works predominantly in bronze from her studios in Edinburgh and Pietrasanta. Her work has been displayed internationally and she has also carried a number of major public commissions including the Merchant Navy Memorial, Leith and a life-sized bronze family group outside the Taiwan Financial Centre, Taipei.
