UK Government: Department of Health
Wednesday, 31 January, 2018

This consultation sought views on what the Department of Health in England needs to do to protect the public as much as possible, and at the same time support the development of the workforce. The proposed model of professional regulation will: secure public trust; improve clinical practice; adapt to developments in healthcare. The responses will allow the UK Government to consider future options for the development of regulation of healthcare professionals in the UK.

The College agrees that the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care is well placed to take on the role of advising the UK government on which groups of healthcare professionals should be regulated on a statutory and voluntary basis, both now and in the future.
