William has been a consultant in respiratory medicine at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2014.  He is the director of the Oxford Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre and also has a specialist interest in bronchiectasis, non-tuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary disease and lung infection.  

William graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2002 and worked as a junior doctor in Stoke-on-Trent, New Zealand and the north west of England.  He spent three years as a clinical research fellow at Wythenshawe Hospital during which time he was awarded a PhD from the University of Manchester for research into the role of viral respiratory infections in cystic fibrosis.  He has published on various aspects of respiratory medicine and has ongoing research interests in the management of cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis.
