The Scottish Parliament Health and Sport Committee has launched an inquiry into NHS Governance - creating a culture of improvement. The inquiry aims to ascertain how well NHS Scotland’s policies and systems are operating to deliver good governance and create a culture of improvement. This call for evidence asks whether the NHS adequately implements the requirements of the Staff Governance Standard.

The College response gives examples of where parts of the Standard are being adequately or well implemented as well as areas where improvements could be made. Examples of the latter include where the health and wellbeing of staff and patients may be compromised, and concerns raised by trainees, who as transitory staff do not always feel included or consulted.
