The College is generally supportive of this draft guideline, however we note that in the section on Atrial Fibrillation (AF), there is only one sentence with regard to antithrombotic therapy management, referring to another guideline. Stroke prevention is the cornerstone of AF management (perhaps the most important, given that strokes in AF have major mortality/morbidity) and therefore we suggest more emphasis on the importance of appropriate thromboprophylaxis should be made.
