Internal Clinical General Medical (Hospital) Adviser to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman
The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) investigates complaints that have been through the full NHS complaints process and remain unresolved.
The SPSO is seeking an Internal Clinical General Medical (Hospital) Adviser who is in current practice at a senior clinical level. The post is on a contract for services basis (in the region of 1-2 days per month depending on case volumes) for a 6 month period, with the potential to re-new the contract at the end of the period, at a fee of £350 per day plus necessary expenses.
The purpose of this work is to provide verbal and written advice to the Ombudsman and his investigating staff when considering general medical hospital complaints, and ensuring findings and conclusions contained in reports are consistent and based on a good understanding of sector issues. The successful candidate may also be invited to provide support and development to investigating staff and to represent the Ombudsman’s office externally.
