The RCPE is acutely aware of the changing nature
of the medical workforce and today’s changing working patterns.
We recognise that it is becoming increasingly difficult for many
to participate in College business when they are already fully
occupied with heavy clinical workloads and family life. We are
keen to explore new ways of encouraging participation by women
and less than full time (LTFT) doctors in order to ensure that
the views of LTFT workers, who are currently under-represented
on College Committees, are represented within the College and
that the College remains fully engaged with the future majority
workforce. To this end we have -
-
established a network of Fellows and Members who will act
as LTFT mentors and from whom other Fellows and Members can
seek informal advice re LTFT working
-
established a wider group of LTFT Fellows and Members who
would be willing to provide occasional comment by e-mail
in order to inform College responses to external policy consultations
and other College Business
- created a useful resource for Fellows and Members of links
to external sources of information about LTFT working
LTFT pages (Fellows
and Members' area)
