The RCPE recognises that Staff, Specialty and
Associate Specialist Grade (SAS) doctors have distinct educational
and professional needs and has established a dedicated workstream
to better support and represent their needs.
An SAS sub-committee has recently been established and we would welcome
contact from
SAS doctors in order to ensure that the RCPE can effectively represent your
concerns and support your needs on an ongoing basis.
An update meeting was held in March 2011, and videolinked
around the UK, at which a range of presentations were given on different areas
of interest to SAS doctors (including details regarding how to obtain a Certificate
of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)). This event complements
our ongoing programme of specialty symposia and
free Evening
Medical Updates (also videolinked free around the UK) which contain
much educational content of value to SAS doctors.
SAS doctors are also encouraged to join
the RCPE as Associates,
or, if possessing MRCP(UK), as Collegiate
Members from as
little as £5 per month, and can access a wide range of online education,
free access to the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK CPD for Physicians
scheme, support for revalidation, discounted attendance at RCPE events and
other membership benefits.
This workstream is being led by Dr Mike Jones, Vice President of the RCPE,
who is a point of contact for SAS doctors seeking College advice regarding
CESR applications as well as those seeking more general educational advice.
All queries will initially be directed to the SAS sub-committee and those
requiring further input will be directed to Dr Jones.
This page is under development
and resources will be added in future. |
