Policy responses and statements

Name of organisation:
Scottish Government: Health Workforce Planning and Development
Name of policy document:
Reshaping the Medical Workforce in Scotland: consultation on specialty training numbers, 2013 and beyond
Deadline for response:
31 August 2012

Background: The Scottish Government sent the College the fourth annual consultation document regarding the future establishment of medical training programmes in Scotland.

This process forms part of the Scottish Government’s strategic policy of moving to a health service predominantly delivered by trained doctors and to reduce the reliance on trainees for front-line service delivery (the Reshaping Medical Workforce Project).

Following the consultation, the Reshaping Project Board will make final recommendations to the Cabinet Secretary for decisions this autumn.
