Background: The Scottish Parliament's Public Petitions Committee agreed on 15 January 2008 to seek responses to the issues raised in Petition PE1108 from the Scottish Government, Scottish Medicines Consortium, Bowel Cancer UK, NHS Grampian, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Radiologists. The Committee also agreed to contact the Health and Sport Committee inviting it to consider undertaking an inquiry into the issues raised in the petition.

The College received a letter from the Public Petitions Committee seeking a written response to the specific issues raised in this petition and the relevant action our organisation is taking to address these. The Committee will give further consideration to the petition and the written responses at its meeting on 19 February.
