Policy responses and statements

Name of organisation:
Northern Ireland Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety
Name of policy document:
Regional Cancer Framework - A Cancer Control
Deadline for response:
9 February 2007

Background: This Cancer Control Programme sets out to build on the progress made in cancer service provision in NI since the Campbell Report - Investing for the Future - was published in 1996. The Cancer Control Programme highlights the importance of lifestyle factors in preventing cancer and the need for the public to be more pro-active in reporting possible cancer symptoms at an early stage. The report's 55 recommendations span every aspect of cancer care and aim to improve the quality of cancer services across Northern Ireland. The Programme has been developed by the DHSSPS and represents the first element of an overarching regional framework for cancer services that will set out clear standards for the quality of cancer care in Northern Ireland.
