RCPE COMMENT ON RCEM REPORT IGNORING THE PRESCRIPTION

Commenting on the Royal College of Emergency Medicine report, ‘Ignoring the Prescription’ [1], Prof Derek Bell, President, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, said,

“It is clear that major challenges remain in relation to A&E services throughout the whole of the UK and we are very supportive of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine’s efforts to reduce pressures in the system. We would reiterate that it is essential to look at the whole system and to improve patient flow through our hospitals rather than just looking at A&E in isolation. Resources also need to be targeted in order to maximise patient care and experience.”
