These machines were very popular in the second half of the nineteenth century and the first years of the 20th century when the term electrotherapeutics was used to denote a well known, if controversial, type of treatment. You should be able to access the lectures if you have a Multimedia PC with Windows 98/2000 or XP and Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player is available to download from the Microsoft website.

In January 2006 Dr Andrew Ryle presented the College with an example
of a magneto portable electrotherapeutic machine. This particular machine
was been used by his general practitioner grandfather in Brighton in
the early 20th Century.
