Part 1 and Part 2 Delivering three diets each year of the Part 1, Part 2 and PACES examinations can be a stressful experience, not only for candidates but for also for all those involved in the preparation, organisation and delivery. The majority of those who are involved are busy clinicians, many of whom have made a supreme effort to help frequently at busy times.
Candidates apply for the written sections according to where they wish to take the exam. Within the UK the Edinburgh College administrates the Part 1 exam in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leicester and Manchester, while the Glasgow College looks after Belfast, Glasgow, Leeds and Liverpool and the London College looks after centres in Birmingham and further south. The Part 2 exam is run in fewer centres but on the same geographical framework.

The Part 1 and Part 2 written exams are relatively straightforward – they are held on one day for Part 1 and two days for Part 2 and in specific centres, which are arranged to provide seating for all those who have applied to sit in a specific centre.
