Access and opening hours
The library is open to readers by appointment from 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Please call the Library on 0131-225-7324 to arrange appointments.
The RCPE collection contains over 50,000 printed monographs on subject areas that include medicine, botany, science and travel.
We are often asked to provide the historical background for lectures, books or papers and we can produce illustrations in a variety of forms from slides to computer scans. Detailed information on both the earliest and the most recent stock is available from our catalogue.
The Library is often contacted by individuals tracing the ancestry of their families who wish to obtain factual information regarding their relatives’ historical Fellowship of the RCPE. We are happy to help with such enquiries.
Loan and photocopy service
Fellows and Members may borrow books from the Library. While books are not generally loaned to non-members, books from our Collection can be viewed and consulted by any interested reader who wishes to visit the Library. We also offer a range of services for all including providing photocopied extracts from our Collection, sending photocopies of journal articles or conference papers and obtaining references from around the globe and sending them on to you, no matter where you live. The Library provides a popular and economic service and will supply material to meet any reasonable deadline.
