Appointment of a Medical Director, MRCP(UK) Examinations and Central OfficeThe Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom is seeking to appoint a Medical Director to the MRCP(UK) Examinations and Central Office in place of Dr Neil Dewhurst who is demitting office in December 2009. The successful applicant will have overall responsibility for the clinical and academic leadership of the MRCP(UK) examinations including the MRCP(UK) Diploma and the Specialty Certificate Examinations, and for ensuring that the aims and objectives agreed through the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom are met. The Medical Director chairs the MRCP(UK) Management Board, the governing body of the MRCP(UK) examinations responsible for taking all policy and strategic decisions, both academic and commercial, and is responsible for reporting issues to Federation affecting clinical, academic and financial aspects of the examination and relevant to ongoing sustainability. The Medical Director would be expected to provide leadership and direction to the Boards, and the Committees and their Officers reporting into MRCP(UK) Management Board. The person appointed will be a Member or Fellow of one of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, practising in a medical specialty and a physician of considerable standing within the medical field.
