Weddings at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh

The Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh is located in EdinburghCity centre and is available for both wedding ceremonies and receptions. Our beautiful Georgian and Victorian rooms offer aromantic setting in which to celebrate your marriage.

Ceremonies

A wedding ceremony at the College is a wonderful experience. The Victorian New Library is licensed for civil weddings and is available for religious ceremonies. Up to 80 guests can be accommodated for the ceremony.

Receptions

Whether you decide to marry within the College or elsewhere, we can cater for receptions from 20 up to 180 people using the New Library, Great Hall or Cullen Suite, with ample space for music and entertainment. The magnificent entrance hallway leads up to the historic rooms where you will celebrate your wedding or reception.

The Great Hall can accommodate up to 150 guests seated at round or oblong tables for a wedding banquet with space for an additional 30-50 guests in the evening. The carpet is lifted to reveal a purpose built dance floor.

The New Library provides an ideal setting for a reception for up to 150 guests and is most suitable for evening buffet and bar facilities.

There is a strict no-smoking policy throughout the college.

Photographs

Photographs can be taken in the Georgian Cullen Suite, the Physic Garden or the New Library and Great Hall. We can provide access to Queen Street Gardens for photography only.

The Cullen Suite provides an elegant backdrop for intimate family photographs.

Catering

We ask you to choose your caterer from our list of approved companies. All caterers are required to pay the College a facility fee on food and drink provided.

Dressing Room

We can provide a dressing room for the bride and groom’s private use.

Site Visits

We would be delighted to show you round the College. Appointments are welcomed between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Please book in advance. If we have an event taking place on a weekend, we can arrange a visit on a Saturday with prior notice.

Recommended Suppliers

The College has a list of recommended suppliers including ceilidh bands and florists to help you plan your wedding.
