The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh has today [30 December 2017] congratulated its President, Professor Derek Bell, and its Director of Heritage, Professor Angela Thomas, for receiving OBEs in the New Year’s Honours List.

Professor Bell has been recognised for his services to unscheduled care and quality improvement in healthcare and Professor Thomas for her services to the regulation of Public Health.

Elaine Tait, Chief Executive of the College, said:

“The College would like to extend its congratulations to all those recognised in the New Year’s Honours List.

“We are thrilled that our current President, Professor Derek Bell, has been recognised for his outstanding commitment to improving unscheduled care and his focus on quality improvement in healthcare.

“We are also delighted that Professor Thomas’s services to the regulation of public health have been acknowledged.

“Both have been long been involved in the work of the College and have been committed to driving improvements in their areas of expertise. We are proud of their recognition today.”
