Vacancy with:
MRCP(UK)

The Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK is seeking to appoint trainee representatives to the Part 2 Examination Board.

MRCP(UK) regards trainee involvement in the management and organisation of its examinations as essential. Successful applicants will become full members of the board, and actively participate in its work and projects. They will be expected to promote the viewpoint of trainees in the development of the overall strategy and policy of the MRCP(UK) and Specialty Certificate examinations.

Working with our examinations will give you the opportunity to network with senior colleagues; take part in challenging discussions; become involved with the next generation of physicians; and shape the future of the profession. It is crucial that the MRCP(UK) examinations are shaped by physicians who represent the workforce and reflect NHS medicine at its best.

For the Part 2 Examination Board roles you will also keep your medical knowledge up-to-date and gain continuing professional development by ensuring that questions are up-to-date and relevant to clinical practice.

Applicants should meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply:

  • Hold MRCP(UK) and be a member of one of the three Colleges
  • Be registered with a licence to practise and in good standing with the General Medical Council
  • Be up-to-date with relevant national guidelines, the requirements of their training programme, and their employer’s equality and diversity training and appraisal process

A full list of each post’s responsibilities is set out in:

  • The Responsibilities and Duties of a Part 2 Board Member.

Further details about our trainee representatives can be found at https://www.mrcpuk.org/get-involved/trainee-representatives.

These are non-salaried positions, although all reasonable expenses and travel costs incurred in travelling to meetings will be met by MRCP(UK) Central Office in line with the Federation expenses policy.

Trainee representatives will be appointed for a period of three years, and post-holders will be required to demit once they have completed their training. Attendance at meetings is monitored and members may be asked to step down if they fail to attend regularly. The next meeting dates for these Boards are:

  • 10 & 11 October 2017 – Glasgow
  • 1 & 2 February 2018 – London

If you would like to apply for any of these roles, please send a one-page covering letter outlining your suitability for the post and an up-to-date CV to Spenser Gibson at policy.officer@mrcpuk.org . The closing date for applications is Friday 01 September.
