Vacancy with:
Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

The College is fortunate to have a strong network of Fellows across the UK and overseas who hold key of Regional Adviser positions, and we are extremely grateful to them for helping support the College in being the College of Choice for physicians and related specialities.

Professor Abdallah Al-Mohammad’s term of office as Regional Adviser for the Trent Region is due to finish soon, and a successor is therefore required.  We are most grateful to Professor Al-Mohammad for his outstanding contribution to the work of the College in his role as Regional Adviser over the past few years, and we are now seeking applications from enthusiastic Fellows who wish to build on his work.  This is a very exciting opportunity for you to contribute to the College in a key role, increase your network of contacts throughout the Trent Region, and make a valuable addition to your CV.

The election will be carried out in accordance with Council's policy of advertising vacancies to the Fellowship.  The Region covers Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and Northants, and a paper outlining the functions of a Regional Adviser is available for your information.

The term of office is 5 years, and Fellows in the Region who are practising physicians may apply. (Retired Fellows may wish to encourage other Fellows to consider this opportunity).  Applicants should either be an examiner for the MRCP(UK) or should have, or be willing to gain, a working knowledge of PACES.

I would be very happy to discuss the job and its challenges and, indeed, any questions you might have by telephone at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh (0131 537 2810).  You might also wish to discuss the post directly with Professor Al-Mohammad who is based at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield (telephone: 0114 2434343).

If you would like to apply for this position, please send me an email or letter of application together with a brief curriculum vitae, preferably by email to: l.lockhart@rcpe.ac.uk.  The deadline for receipt of applications is Monday 17 February 2020 at the latest.  If a number of applications are received, a local election may be held in the Region.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely
