Vacancy with:
Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

An excellent professional opportunity has arisen for a Fellow, from the UK or overseas, to join the Editorial Team of the Journal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (JRCPE) as Editor-in-Chief. We have been delighted with the response from Fellows and Members to the recent re-design of the Journal and are keen to appoint an Editor-in-Chief with the vision, enthusiasm and ability to commission stimulating content to inspire and encourage their peers. Our current Editor-in-Chief, Dr Martyn Bracewell, reaches the end of his term of office in June 2018 so we will be able to arrange a period of induction and handover from early 2018.

This role offers great flexibility for a Fellow wishing to contribute to the College and to gain additional professional experience as it can be managed remotely and accommodated around professional and personal commitments (within deadline requirements).

The College provides in-house professional editorial and developmental support; the Senior Production Editor has responsibility for the day-to-day management of The Journal and works collaboratively with the Editor-in-Chief and the Section Editors to ensure that they are supported in undertaking their roles. The Editors will also receive administrative support from our Editorial Assistant who manages the process of manuscript submission, peer review and communication with the authors.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Jeanette Stevenson, Head of Education and Training, or to the current Editor-in-Chief, Dr Martyn Bracewell, should they wish to discuss the role in more detail.

Jeanette can be contacted at j.stevenson@rcpe.ac.uk or 0131 2473628, and Dr Bracewell at m.bracewell@rcpe.ac.uk

Formal expressions of interest, stating why you are interested in the role and what you would bring to it, accompanied by a short CV should be emailed to Jeanette at j.stevenson@rcpe.ac.uk by 9am on Monday 13 November 2017.
