Salary: £10 per hour

Hours: 28 hours per week during the summer vacation period

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can support the College in a range of communications and administration tasks.

About the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh aims to improve the quality of patient care. We represent over 12,000 Fellows and Members worldwide, setting standards and influencing health policy. The College helps physicians and related specialties pursue their careers though our world-renowned education and training programme. Working with our sister Colleges, we maintain the highest standards in training, assessment and continuing professional development. We also ensure that the views and practical clinical experiences of our membership are taken into account by health policymakers throughout the UK.

Background

The External Relations and Policy department delivers the policy, public affairs, media, and marketing and design activities of the College. The department works closely with departments across the College and is focused on raising the profile of the work of the College on behalf of its Fellows and Members.

About the role

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to support the work of the External Relations and Policy team primarily, as well as the other departments across the College, as required.

The work will involve general administrative work to support the following:

  • Support the team with the production and distribution of marketing materials
  • Maintain resources such as the image library and templates
  • Update the College’s website
  • Contribute to social media activity, planning and analytics
  • Contribute to media relations activity
  • Undertake research for the policy team
  • Database input
  • Other administrative tasks as required

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will satisfy the following requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Possess the confidence to build relationships around the College
  • Be a self-starter with a proactive approach.
  • Experienced in the use of social media
  • Demonstrate outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong IT and administrative skills including experience of the standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database experience).
