The RCPE routinely convenes international consensus
conferences in areas in which the evidence is grey or in which
there is clinical uncertainty with a view to developing consensus
statements which can be rapidly disseminated to a clinical level
and implemented in practice. In recent years, such statements
have covered areas as diverse as stroke treatment and service
delivery, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and early Chronic
Kidney Disease and have been used to inform Scottish and UK health
policy in addition to being used in clinical practice around
the world. Details of the methodology used for developing RCPE
consensus conferences can be accessed
here. |
