Why choose the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh?

The College has considerable expertise in running the MRCP(UK) examinations in Edinburgh, at regional centres throughout Scotland, the UK and internationally. Our experienced examination team are acutely aware of how stressful sitting an examination can be and we aim to help candidates through the application process and to take as much stress out of sitting the examination as is possible.


Part 1 and Part 2 (written) examinations can be taken in the College buildings in Queen Street, Edinburgh. PACES is also run at the state of the art PACES centre at the Western General Hospital Clinical Skills Assessment Centre, one of the busiest international examining centres. Please note that candidates for the written exams can select their centre, but PACES candidates are allocated a centre.

Sitting the exam in Edinburgh provides an excellent opportunity to visit the College and explore this historic city, renowned for its medical science, architecture, shopping and culture.

The College is located in the centre of the city, within five minutes’ walk from train and bus stations and there is easy access from the airport. There is a variety of accommodation available in Edinburgh and it is possible to stay close to the College at a reasonable cost and have acceptable travelling times to the examination centres.
